In Service Planning mode, when I select a hymn, there is a big juicy play button above the text. Also a stop button. What do they do? Do they play the hymn melody? If so, I can't get them to work. Or maybe they do work, but play in ultra-high frequencies that only hamsters can hear. Are they a secret sociological experiment, testing to see how often someone will click a button that doesn't do anything? I must know!

What is that big play button above my hymn text for?

Actually, they are both a sociological experiment and they play in high frequencies: they're a social experiment for hamsters. May we have your hamster's email address so we can send a SurveyMonkey follow-up questionnaire?

Those buttons do play a midi preview of the hymn. I think it's very possible that you're computer's audio mixer has MIDI volume turned down or muted. Can you listen to the melody of ANY hymn?
If it's just the one hymn (or a few) that's not working, would you let us know what hymn number(s)? There might be a missing MIDI in our databases.
If you never here ANY melody of anything in Builder 2, and you're sure the problem's not related to your MIDI volume levels, would you submit a System Report? (You can do that through "Submit a System Report" in "Concordia Publishing House\Lutheran Service Builder 2" in your Start Menu.

Well, I'm as sharp as a bowling ball. I checked my sounds bar, and sho' 'nuff, the "SW Synth" mixer was muted. I don't know what it means, but I CRANKED IT UP, BABY! Now it works. Thanks, Bob.
