I have a custom resource I created based on Matins. Mostly, I've simply added more hymns, the introit, and additional readings. However, when I create a service based on this liturgy, the Opening Versicles are missing. Yet, when I go to "My Liturgies" to check this resource, the Opening Versicles are there. Not sure why they would be missing when I create a service. Anyone have any thoughts?

I am going to post on this to bring it back up to the top.

At first, I thought that there was some sort of compatibility issue with data upgrades (it had been quite a while since I had created the custom service).

I recently created a new Matins outline to test my hypothesis and see if Builder just made these elements disappear (the Opening Versicles and the Response to the Readings both did a Houdini in my old outline) or if creating a new outline would help. I was hopeful, because these elements were retained in the new outline and actually showed up when I created a new service.

I have had to modify my hypothesis, however, because I'm working ahead and just started planning some service is Easter. Clicked on my modified Matins service, and no Opening Versicles and no Response after the readings. Now, if I click forward to next year's Lent, then everything appears just fine. So, for whatever reason, the custom Matins outline does not retain/update seasonal elements.

The two workarounds I can see are:
1.) Make sure that you create your custom outline for post-Pentecost propers (since they are the most common), then search for the elements to insert during the Semester Domini. When the Opening Versicles are "common" (i.e. not Advent and Lent), they appear. The Reading Responsory seems to default to Common rather than disappear - so at least you will have a response even if you forget to change it. It should be noted that when you are looking for the Reading Responsories for Lent and Easter, you must type either "Lent" or "Easter" in the search box and select "Elements." Both of these elements are found under the "Liturgies" section as "Lent (Matins)" and "Easter (Matins)," respectively. (Having gone round and round with previous "Administrators" in this forum as to whether or not these were even in the program, I just recently discovered these - that is why I make note of the label and the category.)

    --OR--

2.) Create a custom Matins outline for each season of the Church year.

Not sure why the seasonal elements in Matins are so messed up. They used to work just fine - it seems like it is the most recent versions that have this messed up. Hopefully they can get things back to where these seasonal elements will not disappear.
