  1. Beta testers:

2.0.0017 is now available and should be the version you have installed. Please check your version by going to the About Lutheran Service Builder command in the Help menu. If you don't have 2.0.0017, please go through your Start menu to run the CPH Software Updater, which should automatically begin retrieving patches for you when you run it.

If you have version 2.0.0013 or earlier, please go to http://cphconnect.org/builder/docs/Installing_Lutheran_Service_Builder_2.x and follow the instructions as listed. You must clear your databases to continue using Builder 2.

If you are using a later version and still cannot get the Software Updater to work, please uninstall Lutheran Service Builder 2 from your computer and then download http://cphdev.com/downloads/2.0/lsb.2.0.0017.msi and install it on your computer. The process should then be complete.

When you run 2.0.0017 for the first time, the first search you perform may take longer than usual. This is normal while the system installs an additional search component to your databases and will only happen once.

Please leave a forum thread or an email if you experience problems with the updated version of Builder.

  2. AGHHHHHH, Error log on it's way

  3. I've tried to install first x16 on Friday and x17 today. I was upgrading from x10 I think, so I uninstalled it in Friday, but did not see the post to remove the database. On Friday in seemed to install fine, but the first time I ran it, it go hung up onthe initialization step. After about 10 minutes I forced the program to close.

Today I unistalled x16 and, having seen the step to remove the database, proceeded to do that. I actually got an error message that said the database removal program had stopped. I proceeded to install x17. The same thing happened as on friday. It unpacked and installed. I ran it for the first time and now am sitting at about 10 minutes that it's been frozen on the initialization screen. I am letting it go, to see if it just takes a long time.

  4. After 40 minutes I closed the program, which generated an error report, which I sent to you.

  5. We're taking a look at that now.

Try uninstalling your databases before uninstalling Builder; then uninstall Builder, then install .0017.

  6. Ok -- I removed the datebase first - that worked properly this time.

    I uninstalled LSB 2.17

I uninstalled the CPH Updater (which I had failed to do on previous upgrades)

I downloaded LSB 2.17 again and ran the update.
It installed, including downloading and attaching the Bible, hymnal, and lectionary.

I ran it for the first time. It froze again on the program logo and says it "initalizing".

I closed the program and sent the error report to you.

  7. Bill, if you go to Add/Remove Programs, what's the most recent version of the .NET Framework you have installed? Your error is somewhat bizarre from our perspective. We're trying to figure out what's causing it.

  8. Framework 3.5

    Posted 3 years ago #
  9. OK; we've figured out that it's a problem with a method we call that was added in 3.5 Service Pack 1.

BIll, if you check Microsoft Update, or do a search on microsoft.com for ".NET Framework 3.5 sp1", you should be able to grab an installer for Service Pack 1. We're confident that if you install that, Builder will work as advertised.
