Lutheran Service Builder 2.1.26 Released

After spending some time in beta release, we’ve pushed 2.1.26 to the automatic update servers this morning to get you some additional bug fixes and a change or two.

The list of changes:

Changes

  • Improved the logic for auto-cropping imported images (no longer crops out lines with 0 black pixels, now crops out lines which do not contain artifacts longer than 4 pixels).
  • Added “tighten crop” button to image cropping property sheet so that the user can manually crop out artifacts that Builder misses and then apply the auto-cropper again.
  • Improved tolerances for slicing music so that it works with less crisp images.
  • Added instructions to the image slicing wizard.
  • Builder will now open all MIDI files by using quoted paths.

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved an issue where images in music which never have text beneath them (such as the tones for the canticles) were omitted from export.
  • Added a utility for repairing missing statistic information to the “Help” menu.
  • Resolved an issue with the image slicing wizard where a particularly confusing image might have zero slices and would appear then to *not* import at all; now all images always have at least one slice.
  • Further improved SQL exception handling and applied database repair logic to more cases.
  • Resolved an issue where not all available content names would show up in the context menu in the Bulletin and Presentation Views (even though they would show up in the Toolbar).
  • Resolved an issue where the Edit Stanzas tab would not show up in an editor when adding and deleting Content Names caused stanzas to become or cease to be relevant for the edited package.

Please note that this patch includes the utility for fixing the “hole” in statistics that some users have noticed. Please use the tool—located in the Help menu—to have Builder check your history and “fix” your stats.

As always, should you encounter any issues with the upgrade process, please contact us by using the Help & Support link above. We will be happy to assist you.

Lutheran Service Builder 2.1.25 Released

After a short period of testing, we have pushed Lutheran Service Builder version 2.1.25 to the automatic update servers, and all users should be prompted for the patch on their next update check.

This update solves several issues encountered in the last few versions of Builder, including an error specifically affecting the Statistics module (about which more was written in the previous news post).

The changes made to Builder since version 2.1.23 are:

  • When viewing graphs and charts in the Statistics View, if a label needs to be moved to the left of a plot to fit in the window, the label is now moved a little farther to the left so it won’t overlap the plot.
  • In the Favorite Hymns view in Statistics, user-created hymns without hymn numbers are now labeled as nothing at all rather than as “000″.
  • Titles have been added to the graphs in the Statistics View.
  • The ESC key and ALT+TAB will now both close the popup window used at the Calendar View.
  • When viewing the Hymn Statistics Profile, date labels now appear in bold when the mouse pointed hovers over hymn-date hits.
  • An instance where the MIDI player was appearing when it wasn’t supposed to be has been suppressed.
  • The Database Repair Utility has been updated to include two additional commands: “Delete user database” and “Delete assemblies”. These commands should only be used when you are directed to do so by support personnel.

The bug fixes made to Builder since version 2.1.23 are:

  • When viewing the Hymn Statistics Profile, user-created hymns are now included in a meaningful way at the top of the chart.
  • When viewing the Hymn Statistics Profile, end dates will no longer erroneously filter out some valid results.
  • The Presentation generator was not properly creating hymn slides with one stanza at a time. This has been fixed.
  • An issue preventing the “remove unseasonable elements automatically” feature from working has been resolved.
  • An issue where double-clicking different user-defined Hymns in the “Browse” list in the Planning View would cause double-clicked hymns to adopt the name of a previously selected user-created hymn has been resolved.
  • When Builder is missing database files, it now runs the repair utility rather than simply showing an error message and asking you to contact Support.
  • A significant issue in place since 2.1.6 has been resolved. This issue prevented statistics from being recorded for any elements used at a level deeper than the first in a service outline (which was normally all hymns).

2.1.25 Is Coming Soon… But What Happened to Hymn Statistics?

We just finished putting a few touches on a 2.1.25 update for you, and we’re going to run it through some beta testing before sending it out to everyone.

We’re mentioning this right now because we’d like to take a moment to explain to you what’s happened with the Statistics module in Builder 2 and why you haven’t had any stats for a while.

When fixing up something else in Builder back in February, we managed to set the statistics module so that it didn’t actually record the stats for any hymn that was used beyond the first level of depth in a service (which is normally all of them). For most of you, this means that you haven’t been recording hymn stats for a few months now.

This is completely our fault, and we apologize for it. Builder 2.1.25 will restore the functionality of the statistics recorder and module and you will once again be able to track your hymns.

You will continue to notice a “hole” in your stats for services you worked on between the day you upgraded to Builder 2.1.6 and today. We are working on a solution for this lapse. In the next update to Builder, you’ll find a menu command that will quickly repair all your statistics.

We go to great lengths to prevent problems such as this one from occurring in the Builder update and development process. This was unfortunately the kind of thing that slipped right through and then took us much longer to fix than expected.

Thank you once again for being a Lutheran Service Builder customer and for supporting our product. It is our pleasure to serve you through Lutheran Service Builder and other solutions.

CPH Software Updater 1.0.17 Released

It’s been in beta release for a couple of weeks, so we’ve gone ahead and pushed out an update to the CPH Software Updater to bring it up to version 1.0.17.

This update is designed to solve issues related to incomplete downloads of updates and/or improper ordering of those updates once they have been downloaded. It should solve the problem some people have been seeing where updates “did not download correctly” and will not clear themselves.

If you encounter any issues with this installation process, please let us know. The update will be automatically downloaded by either version 1.0.15 or 1.016 of the CPH Software Updater, and you must download and install it before you can receive any further updates to Lutheran Service Builder.

You can inform us of problems either by leaving a comment below or clicking on the Help & Support link up at the top of the page.
