Welcome to the Community.
This web site is an online community provided for the mutual benefit of the mission of Concordia Publishing House and the customers CPH serves. We invite you to make your mark here and to join in the discussion, but there are some ground rules in place. For everyone’s sake, we are committed to enforcing these guidelines in order to protect and improve the service of CPH for all involved.
These guidelines have been carefully considered, and are in place for the benefit of all. This Web site is a service we are happy to bring to you, but with this service comes an amount of responsibility and expectation of conduct, both for you and for us. Since we have agreed to abide by these rules, you understand that by participating here, you agree to abide by them as well.
Be yourself
People will respect you more, engage with you more often, and treat you like a real person if you use your actual identity here. Have the courage to be you — instead of a silly Internet name. While not mandatory, we think you’ll have a much better online experience when you stand behind your actual words. Remember that anonymity is not an excuse for acting like a jerk.
Win friends
Get noticed! This site is designed for discovery, direct involvement, and collaboration. Connect with people. Talk in a way that reflects who you are. Share your experiences using CPH products with others so they can learn from your practice.
Be honest
We’re into transparency, honesty, and truth. Don’t misrepresent yourself or lie about your identity, affiliations, or whatever. This community is based on the contributions of real people who invest themselves. Be one of them. Ask questions and reward the candor of others.
Keep it clean
We’re cheerleaders for any activity that encourages the spirit of fun, so long as it doesn’t hurt other people. Please, no blonde jokes — or any words or images that come at the expense of others. Be sensitive to other users around you. Don’t post anything crude, offensive, or otherwise outside the bounds of Christian conduct. Those things kill conversations, just like in real life. Left unchecked, they will also kill this community.
Be constructive
Professional critics have something to teach us: They foster healthy conversation and debate without ever attacking people personally. Think about that when responding to others, and ask yourself the question: Would you say it to their face?
No spamming
This is a community, not a marketplace or a political grandstand. If you’re here to plant a ton of links to your Web site without doing much else, your comments will likely be flagged as spam. Too much spamming and you will lose your ability to comment here.
Keep the peace
If you see content that crosses the line of acceptability (including spam) please don’t hesitate to let us know. We do the best we can to make sure those kinds of comments don’t make it through to you, but we’re human too. You need to let us know if you run across something that shouldn’t be here. We’ll remove flagged items if we agree that they’re no good.
Exit, stage left?
If this community isn’t for you, or you’re here for reasons other than to be constructive and help others use our products, you’re welcome to leave. We’ll miss you, but we’d hate for you to stick around if you’re unhappy. If you persist in violating the guidelines of this community, we’ll unfortunately have to show you the door ourselves.
