Early Post-Launch 2.0 Issues

We’d like to welcome all of you who have been downloading, installing, and using Lutheran Service Builder 2.0 in the past few days. We have received some truly amazing feedback from all of you and are both pleased that you are enjoying the improvements and additions and thankful that you’ve helped us to find a few issues that are being fixed as I type this.

As we encounter things that are popping up in widespread use, we’ll use this News space to keep you informed of the status of Lutheran Service Builder and our work to improve your experience even further. Please note that to the right of the News page is an entry blank for your email address. If you input your address there and then respond to a quick confirmation mailing, you will receive a notice whenever an update is posted to this site. We invite you to take advantage of email subscriptions (or RSS subscriptions) in order to stay up-to-date with the latest in Builder development.

There are a few issues of which we’d like to make you aware at this time. They have been reported by users on our discussion forums; we also invite any of you to join the discussion there at your convenience.

Psalm Chant Pointing

Right now, the chant pointing toggle is not working properly for Psalm elements. You can still turn them off with the global document preferences, but they can’t be switched on/off for just that Psalm element. There is no workaround for this issue; please either use global settings or edit the final document if you desire to make changes.

Word 97-2003 Output

Also, bookfolded output and image resizing are not working properly with Word 97-2003 (.doc) output. Graphics will appear to take more or less of the page than expected, and documents won’t be printed with a bookfold unless you explicitly set them to do so.

At this time, the best option for compatibility and for workaround is to always export your documents as Word 2007 (.docx) documents. If you do not have Office 2007, you can download a compatibility pack for earlier versions of Office (back to 2002) that will convert the documents for you automatically. You can find that download at the following URL:

These are the major issues we are experiencing with Builder 2.0 at the moment. Some of you have also reported installation issues—some of them related to the Microsoft software we require to use Builder 2. If you are encountering a problem with Builder 2.0 installation, please submit a support request and we will contact you with instructions.

Is there a way to have the Biblical reference posted for the introit? I can do it in version 1 – but haven’t found it in 2.

The control for that functionality isn’t making itself apparent right now – we will take a look at it and get that placed in ASAP.

In the meantime, you can edit the subcaption by right-clicking on the Introit in the preview and selecting the option to write your own.
