1.8.5 Update Now Available

The 1.8.5 update to Lutheran Service Builder has been pushed to the automatic update service as of this morning. All users of Builder with active Internet connections should be prompted to download the new update on their next load of Lutheran Service Builder.

This is repeated below, but to restate: at this time, a standalone installer for Builder 1.8.5 is not available. We have encountered some technical limitations in replacing the databases of those users who have not been able to follow the scheduled update path. We are working on a solution for this problem and will report back when more information is available.

At the very latest, a standalone will be created sometime in September or October that will fix a few outstanding issues and replace the Builder 1.x databases one last time to include all necessary content. At that time, active development of Builder and related content will shift to the 2.x series and only maintenance releases of the 1.x series will be created. An audit of the Builder 1.x content will occur prior to this deadline to ensure that our customers are receiving the best “final” update possible for the 1.x series. If there is a significant piece of content from the Lutheran Service Book corpus “missing” from the current content that you would like to remind us to place into the final update, please leave a comment on this post and we will make sure we look into it before our development cycle changes.

Lutheran Service Builder 1.8.5 Update
Size: ~1 MB
This update is recommended for all users of Lutheran Service Builder and should be easily downloaded by dial-up Internet connections.

A CD of this update is NOT available if you are currently using version 1.7.15 or newer.

Click OK to begin the download. When the download is complete, Builder will prompt you to run it automatically. Please report any problems with the update to lsbsupport@cph.org or contact Support at (800)346-6120 for assistance.

Due to technical limitations, a full installer is not currently available for this update. We are taking steps to solve this problem and will advise those customers who require standalone installers within the next few weeks.

Changes from 1.8.4 to 1.8.5 include the following:

  • An issue where a large number of elements were automatically displaying with page numbers has been fixed.
  • 1.8.4 created a situation where custom liturgies would pull incorrect Lectionary data. This will no longer occur.
  • Hymn titles will now correctly appear in PowerPoint slides.
  • A problem where the Undo process was not properly initializing and crashing Builder in the Outline Step has been fixed.
  • A handful of additional crash-causing bugs have been tracked down and eliminated.
  • Changes made to PowerPoint templates will now be saved properly.
  • Changes made to PowerPoint templates will now be applied automatically, rather than requiring a refresh of the presentation.
