Faithful readers will remember that we posted a set of sample pages from the Guitar Chord Edition a while back. It’s my pleasure to announce to you here that the Guitar Chord Edition is now available for pre-order from CPH. You can either order through the web store using this link or you can call CPH at 800-325-3040 and ask to order item number 03-1175.

The Guitar Chord Edition will be available at an introductory price of $55 for the two-volume set until February 2, 2009, at which point the price will become $65 per two-volume set. The set is Ring-O bound for easy page turning and lay-flat use, and is an enlarged size to facilitate reading from a distance.

The book contains the melody line and one or more chord charts for each hymn in Lutheran Service Book, though chords for the liturgies are not included. Volume One contains hymns 331-669, and Volume Two covers hymns 670-986. Note that this means the books do contain the Builder-exclusive hymns. Both volumes are designed for use by guitarists, keyboardists, and other musicians who play from lead sheets.

Please note that the settings provided in the Guitar Chord Edition do not always match the settings provided in the Accompaniment Edition for the Hymns, and are not intended to be used together. We also do not yet know if the lead sheets from the Guitar Chord Edition will be made available in Lutheran Service Builder.
