A set of data updates has just been pushed to the automatic update service. All Lutheran Service Builder users should receive these changes on their next restart of Builder while connected to the Internet. If your copy does not download these changes, please use the Check for Updates… command in the Tools menu.

A particularly awesome change that is included in these updates is the inclusion of elements from Luther’s Small Catechism in the Add Service Elements list. Click to read the rest of the article to see a full list of the changes made in this update.

The following changes have been made to the databases included with Lutheran Service Builder:

• The Collect of the Day will no longer appear twice in Morning Prayer.
• The Confessional Address in the service for Holy Thursday is no longer listed as “New Element.”
• An occurrence where a divine pronoun was not capitalized in Divine Service, Setting Two has been fixed.
• A omitted letter in the rite of First Communion Prior to Confirmation has been fixed.
• The standard content for the Aaronic Benediction has been changed to remove an unnecessary line break. This change will not immediately appear in all services.
• The rite of Blessing of a Civil Marriage has been added.
• The Service of Prayer and Preaching has been edited to move the choice of Opening Versicles into the Outline step. This creates the following effects:
  • The choice must now be made earlier in the process.
  • The seasonal versicles will now be removed automatically when not in season if you have elected to do so in Preferences.
  • The bold/un-bold error that was bugging people in earlier revisions is now gone.
  • There may be some additional spacing between the different portions of the Opening Versicles. This spacing will persist until version 2. You may always delete the spacing in the generated output.
  • The different sections of the Opening Versicles will now be displayed on different slides in PowerPoint output. We will revisit this side-effect at a later date.
• The Invocation in Divine Service, Setting Four will no longer carry over the italics of the rubric for the sign of the cross. The text will appear normally.
• The collect “for unity of faith” has been corrected to fix a text error.
• A handful of changes have been made to the list of copyright holders to make it current.
• A handful of errors in the Passion harmony have been corrected.
• The rite “Anniversary or Affirmation of Holy Matrimony” has been added.
• The rite “Ordination” has been added.
• An incorrect page number reference in the Funeral Service outline has been fixed.
