LSB Data Updates for Wednesday, 6 February, 2008

A rather large (~12 MB) set of updates has been pushed to the update service this morning for all users of Lutheran Service Builder. The next time you start Builder, you should be prompted to download these changes and additions. Please do so. These updates have been thoroughly tested and should integrate into your existing Lutheran Service Builder installation with no issues. If you should encounter a problem after performing the update, please contact us via e-mail at lsbsupport@cph.org, by phone at 800-346-6120, or by leaving a comment attached to this post or in the appropriate forum.

These changes include error fixes, additional data, and a few other changes. Continue reading for more details.

The following specific changes have been made to the services and rites included in Lutheran Service Builder:

  • The entirety of the Rites of Blessing from the Lutheran Service Book Agenda has been added. You will note that the “Blessing of a Church” rite has been subdivided into separate rites, based on their spacing and inclusion within the Divine Service.
  • A few errors in the Passion Reading have been corrected (thanks to user Terry Hoese for pointing these out).
  • The text of Divine Service, Setting Three has been cleaned up (and that extra “hosanna” should be gone now).
  • LSB 505, “Triune God, Be Thou Our Stay”, has been edited to include a new hymn engraving and have the correct stanzas in the correct order. In addition, the default stanza selection is to have only the single stanza version of the hymn. You can of course change this by using the “Change Stanzas” command. You’ll also find the Lenten stanzas there.
  • LSB 605, “Father Welcomes”, has been corrected to fix an incorrect stanza slicing problem. (Thanks to user Jim Neubauer for pointing this one out.)
  • The Kyrie for Divine Service, Setting Four now has options for the responsive version with bids, including both the standard and alternate versions given in the Altar Book. You can select these options in the Outline step.
  • The rite of Holy Matrimony has been changed to include all optional content from the Agenda (this does not affect the service version that you can find in the regular outlines).
  • The rite of Committal has been added.
  • The Funeral Service now includes the optional Committal Blessing and Collect from the Agenda.
  • The rite for Ash Wednesday from the Agenda has been added (you can see now why we released the Word document so far ahead of time).
  • A problem with the service for Holy Thursday has been corrected. Be sure to read the long rubric given at the beginning of the service for more information on how to use the service as presented.
  • A handful of other issues have been addressed, corrected, or added where necessary.

In addition to these changes, there are two sets of large Lectionary updates that will be distributed over the next couple of weeks. We will be staggering their release so as not to overwhelm users who have only dial-up Internet connections. These updates will include additional data that will be made available for use with the arrival of the 1.08 upgrade, which will be in testing shortly. More information on these updates will be made available upon their release.

If you have any questions, comments, or complaints, please contact us using the methods described above and we will be happy to assist you.
